Anyone who has been close to me for any significant amount of time knows that my maternal grandmother, Granny Blair, is the relative that I am the closest to. Well, it’s already been a hard summer for me, folks, because she died last Monday. I already miss her so so terribly.

finally finals week!

May 12, 2008 · Leave a Comment

So, it’s finally finals week and I’ve been hanging out in the library, like, hard core. This morning I had my Psychology final and I’m proud to announce that I aced that mofo with flying colors. In fact, you could even go so far as to say that I destroyed that thing. Which is great because I sure did put in enough time at the library “studying” for it.

All right, so, I don’t really know exactly what “studying” is…but I sure did do a lot of outlining and reading and looking-stuff-up-ing and online quiz taking. And it looks like I’m going to pull off an A in Psychology for all my hard work.

And today? So far today I have made a bunch of Spanish flashcards, created a Biology study guide, and reviewed some Sociology. I am on top of things this week like no freaking other. If only I could be this productive, like, all the time. Now, I am all “studied” out and am just hanging out in my mostly empty room (I pretty much moved out yesterday), drinking some diet Dr.Pepper and blogging.

Anyways, I have my Spanish final in an hour. I’m really actually not prepared for it, I mean, it’s the one that I feel the worst about, but we’ll see what happens, I guess. And after that? I NEVER HAVE TO TAKE ANOTHER LANGUAGE CLASS EVER AGAIN. DONE WITH LANGUAGE FOREVER.

the to-do list, written in no real particular order.

So, this is what my week-before-finals is going to look like, homework wise.

- Political Theory final. Write up the answers to two questions on environmentalism, making sure not to exceed a page and a half for either question. Provide references and a works cited page. Literally, the easiest final ever. I don’t get why all my classmates are bitching about it. Oh well, then. (By Wednesday)

- Data Collection Project for Psychology. I have to compile the responses of forty students to surveys on emotional intimacy using Excel. This is the part that is going to take forfuckingever. But hey, when my group had our meeting, I volunteered to do this, so I can’t say that I didn’t know what I was getting into. I also have to go buy some poster board and a shit ton of glue so that we can (in true high school project fashion) glue things to other things. (By Thursday)

- Write response paper for Data Collecton project. Basically, a two page paper on how I felt about my Psychology group project. Pfft.

- Film analysis paper on The Shawshank Redemption for Sociology. Four page sociological analysis of the film. Already started. About 1/3 of the way done. Boo. (By Thursday)

- Write up two outlines for the essay questions provided on the study guide sheet for my Psych final. Generally start studying for Psych exam. (By Wednesday)

- Write out Spanish oral exam script and send to partner. (By Monday)

- Finish Spanish workbook pages. (By Monday)

I also really need to start studying for my Spanish and Psychology finals, which are both Monday finals. My Psych professor supplied us with a study guide, so that shouldn’t be all that difficult to get prepared for. But Spanish? Jesus H. Christ, my Spanish teacher is granola nutbar crazy and I have no idea where to even begin to study for this exam. Sadly, I really need to make an excellent grade on it so that I can bring up my average for the class. Yea, I’m pretty screwed. It looks like I’ll be locking myself in the library with my Spanish book and just going at it until exam day. Unfortunately, even that won’t help me all that much, considering I always study for these Spanish exams and then go into the test and seem to not know anything.

Today my biology professor actually walked into my one o’clock just as I was explaining to my classmates that, “There are just SO many places that you can GET YOUR FREAK ON.” Yea, my professor just loved that. I could tell by her face that she was not amused. In fact, it was just straight up awkward. Which, by the way, is pretty much the only thing I seem to succeed at anymore.

Did I mention that next week is the week before finals? And did I happen to say that I have three papers and a project due in that week? No? Oh, well, then. Just thought I’d clear that up for you.

Tomorrow is a big day on my college’s campus. It is the annual, err, fun day (I guess?) festival, which I refer to mainly as Blister in el Sol, since that’s what the t-shirts said last year. That’s right, all my classmates will go outside and enjoy organization booths and inflatables and local music. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend due to the large amounts of, ahem, “productive” crap that I will be doing instead. Like, ideally, finishing up those three papers and dealing with all that psychology data for that aforementioned project. Sad day for me.
